Macbook Bootup times?

it depends on your hard disk space and if you have any startup apps like login items or startup daemons in /Library/StartupItems. also i find Leopard takes a little longer to boot than Tiger.
a Mac with lots of space free and no third party startup apps should boot as fast as the day you got it.
a good way to test this is to see where you think the boot process is slowing down. if its while the desktop is loading that has to do with applications. if its at the grey and blue boot screens that has to do with kexts and boot caches. if its the latter download Onyx and run the Automation feature then reboot a few times to rewrite the boot caches.

15 Seconds? Are you talking about the time it takes to load from when the spinning wheel appears below the Apple logo?
Because if you're talking about time from power button press to fully loaded Leopard, that is impossible. It takes 3 seconds from the time you press the power button to the time the sound chimes and the screen lights up. 13 seconds from the time you press the power button to the time the spinning wheel appears.
Theres no way Leopard could fully load in ~2 seconds.
mine loads in like 30. however windows xp on my boot camp partition takes up to 2 minutes! shows that mac os x is a more fine tuned os.
most modern core two duos will take between 30 and 60 seconds. I base my start up time on when i can actually get firefox to open though, so about 65 seconds, as compared to almost every pc i've ever used 2+ minutes of waiting and looking at the hourglass 
My bootup time is 34 seconds, 2,1 ghz penryn with 4gigs of ram and al my stuff on a 500gb external hdd. I noticed if you have airport turned off it will boot faster.

Again, thats not possible. You're trying to tell us that either your Mac skips all of the POST process or it simply loads Leopard in 2 seconds?
Getting to the login screen doesn't necessarily mean its finished booting/loading up either.
I already know it's not finished loading at the login screen, hence why I made a point of stating to the login screen. My account has filevault enabled so it's pointless timing it until leopard is fully loaded.
I'm going to go find a stopwatch & time it exactly because there's no way mine takes 30 seconds to get to the login screen.
edit: just timed it, looks like my counting is slightly wrong, 23 seconds from pressing the power button till the login screen.

5 seconds. On a good day I get 3 seconds.

Joking. I timed mine, and it takes about 27 seconds. But mine's new and i still have about 95GB out of 160 free.

I can't remember the last time I rebooted my Macbook. Just leave it running and put it to sleep by closing the lid. Then you will never have to be concerned about bootup times!
