OK, I think everybody needs to read a little.

But here's what Apple officially lists as in the box:

* iPhone 3G
* Stereo Headset with mic
* Dock Connector to USB Cable
* USB Power Adapter
* Documentation
* Cleaning/polishing cloth
* SIM eject tool

So no, there is no dock adapter (nor dock) in the box. You can buy a pack of three adapters for $9, although Apple's "made for" listings just say "iPhone" and not which version. This is quite confusing, as is the fact that I don't see the iPhone 3G dock for sale yet.

On a personal note, someone should tell Apple that it's "Dock-Connector-to-USB cable." The other way leads to people thinking there's a dock connector. HYPHENS ARE YOUR FRIENDS. OK, I'm done with my copy editor rant.

Did you actually read the original post?

It's not listed as being "in the box" at apple.com, but it hasn't been in the past. I'm just wondering what people have heard.

Again, there was one post a while back, but that was before people had actually seen retail units, etc.

No offense, but I would rather get a jawbone. The new one.

I don't want a separate charger, and cable. The Combo dock and charging cable is very slick...

I have heard a lot of good things about the Jawbone though. That is probably what I would get if I didn't want the Apple headset...

Geez, I am thinking maybe I should pick up the new dock, etc on Friday even if I don't wait in line for the new iPhone that day. I have a feeling it will be hard to come by the dock since everyone needs it as the original one will not work.

If they have the new headset (or same one) with an updated dock, I will go for that versus just the dock. The plastic back should have solved the static problems as all headsets seemed to have a problem with quality if phone was in your pocket and not in direct line of sight.

iPhone 3G Dock Pics

im thinking i'll get one of the stands made my macally - hopefully they will be future proof!

Hey, i know in phightinphils26 thread, you said you had a iphone 3g on your hands.. can you perhaps get a couple pics of it in the dock??

They said that the dock was specially made to "port the speakerphone audio out" or something like that, Can you see this on the dock? I picture tunnels from the speaker and mic through the dock so the sound can get through, but in these pics I don't really see that.

I can see the tunnels, cant you. Did you forget to put your glasses on this morning?

I do see the holes in the pictures that show the indention's where the speakers are located on the bottom of the iphone. Hopefully that brings out the sound somewhere so it can be heard well.

$30 for the dock, I'm thinking I will pass and probally use that towards a holster or case of some kind instead :rolleyes:

The 1st gen did come with a dock, the new 3G wont. You have to purchase that separate.

Anyone else reckon that with a bit of work with a Dremel the dock for the first iPhone will fit the 3G just fine? ;)

Yeah tht's what I'm saying, it doesnt look like it comes out the front or side that's shown, maybe in the back? or along the bottom somehow?
Those holes gotta lead somewhere!

You could prob make it work, but I personally don't think its worth the effort. Just sell your old iPhone on ebay and buy the new dock with the money you made from the old iPhone.
