i have seen both white and black, the black is covered in prints. the White box is crap but everything else is sweet. the white looks much cleaner and is original apple style, its the same plastic as the mighty mouse, and i am not worried about it yellowing because my mighty mouse has not

iCantwait - can u take a picture of your iphone 3g with that jay-z photo up on the screen (with the camera facing it directly on), or power down with the globe wallpaper, or power down with the home menu icons, or with the grey box, or anything that proves that there is no negative black? i believe u but i want to see a photo so i can start getting giddy!!!!

thanks a lot

Got mine on Vodafone NZ... a bit pricier than elsewhere in the world. The time stamps on the photos are actually NZ summer time, so the actual time they were taken are one hour prior as it's winter here now.

We got given rugs and beanies too, while in the queue, and heaps of other freebies, mostly food.

I also got a iPhone 3G dock, which isn't provided as standard unlike with the previous iPhone.

It seems like the white iPhone only looks good in certain lights. In the first set of pictures, its got the yellow look to it. In the 2nd set, its nice and bright, much cleaner looking.

UK Launch CPW Pompey - Owner of iPhone 2.0 by 0702!

Was I the first in the UK? Through the till at the Carphone Warehouse in Portsmouth at 0702 UK local time, out of the shop before 0715. 16GB Black in my possession with the main O2 stores not opening for another hour?! Score!

DSCN0403.jpg

Bit messy on the desk but it's a beauty! Worth arrivig outside the shop before 0500 as only 3 16GB were available.

The lighting is so utterly horrible in the "yellow look" picture that I'm not really sure I would judge the phone on it

That's my point, though. I want something that looks good no matter what the lighting conditions. Black is black, that doesn't change. Just the way I think about it, though. To each their own.

Yeah, but each time you touch it it gets finger prints on it. And those look worse in light than a white iPhone...

BTW i'm not a black hater, i just can't decide myself yet.

White: Feminine, fading
Black: Finger prints as bad as the touch screen gets it.

But when i put it in a case, what matters?

UK launch of iPhone 3G, City of London, O2 Store Cheapside/Bow Lane

Hi folks,

I took a few pictures over the course of this morning, and during unboxing, which can be viewed here: http://gallery.mac.com/geofas#100079&bgcolor=black&view=grid

When I started the queue at 5.13am I was only on my own for 22 minutes. #3 arrived @ 5.39am, #4&5 @ 5.51am, #6 @ 6.06am, #7 @ 6.08am, #8 @ 6.15am, #9 @ 6.17am and #10 at 6.20am. All guys so far, #11 was a female. Then the line started to grow slowly up until 7am (mostly males) when it grew exponentially up until opening time and kept growing. Once I was done and left the store, the line had grown all alongside the building and around the corner, I'm guessing about 50 people.

O2's online systems for registration collapsed and they had to switch to paper form registrations. Those don't necessarily take longer but you won't get your SIM card activated right away. Their estimates were, 'probably not today'.

Otherwise it was a great experience! Well organized and they even popped out at 7.50am to offer us tea and it looks like they keep offering hot drinks and water to people.

Enjoy your iPhone 3G! :D

Heh I was first in line and I'm a girl ;)

I went to CPW as O2 opened 1hr later and CW didn't crash hence out of the shop before the O2 store even opened. CPW got us all coffee/tea whilst outside in the line as well. My sim card was straight in an activated. Very happy customer. New FB app is awesome!

Woohoo! The launch was really fun! The phone is really sweet! Love the reshaped back!
Here's my new 16GB black iPhone as I was giving the account info to the CS rep. The activation was fast and painless; I wasn't even late for work!

16b black..

I was first in line in Winchester UK at the o2 store. Got there last night at 1030, and i was on my own till about 330. Then the line started growing quite quickly.

All of my stuff got activated before the system crashed, I was at the cash register at around 805, but the guy behind the register was a trainee and he first messed up the price, then the IMEI was showing unregistered, and then he messed something else up so I ended up getting another guy and saying hey I know he's training but we need to leave for work. And at work is where i see my new toy, but I don't have itunes on my work pc, and at home my area doesn't get a cell signal so i'm not sure how im going to activate the phone

Something that I just realized...but subconsciously already knew.

All the plugs...dock...earbuds...etc. are all white. (even when paired with the all black iphone)

You would think they would have 'matched' the colors. (I realize apple is known for their white products...I just don't understand why all of a sudden the mismatched stuff?)

Apple has always done it this way, look at the Black MacBook's MagSafe cord, and previous colored iPods all had the generic white cords.

I know...I just don't get it. I'm a mac-head all the way...I just think that a white product looks better with a white cord, just as a black product looks better with a black cord.

I suppose, it's the graphic artist in me that just wants it to 'match' better.
...At least it isn't a bright magenta cord.

Black and white are classy together, I suppose.

I'm still getting the white one...I'm going to dub it penguin. :D

I'm actually pretty impressed with how the white one looks, especially in the dock. It'll be a tossup when I go to get mine... It'll be like when I got my new MBP and the sales guy asked if i wanted matte or glossy. I told him to surprise me. :D
