Anyone seen the new info in the new Nintendo Power? If anyone wants I could upload some scans. It looks pretty cool, I really like the cell shaded graphics.

What's the gameplay like? classic GTA or some kind of gimmick? (I know they said open-ended but that doesn't mean it's necessarily classic GTA).

Some scans would be nice though  I'm really curious to see how they made GTA work on the archaic DS.

It's an isometric view.

I would also like to see some scans. If they can match Zelda:pH's quality, that would be good.

Here's the DStails;

- Cell-shaded graphics/polygons - black borders
- It’s a “real” GTA game - There’s sandbox gameplay, a totally open world, narrative
- Going to be rated M (This means you'll have to enter your age to play.)
- Camera angle is isometric (Phantom Hourglass?)
- good touch-screen implementation - “tasteful” minigames, streamlining interface
- UI based on a PDA - hub for email, contacts, map, music player, GPS, stat-tracking
- finger-sized icons
- missions designed for shorter periods of play, arcade quality
- Control pad = aim, R button = auto target
- subtle autosteer
- if you fail a mission, you can jump back to the action sequence
- Weapons include chain gun, flamethrower
- good portion of Liberty City is modeled in the game (different routes than console games)
- Load times aren’t an issue
- lots of pedestrians, cars, etc on screen
- Wanted system - objective is to disable police cars any way possible
- Weather effects (real-time), 24-hour day/night cycle
- A ton of radio stations - more instrumental than vocal
- Wi-Fi and multiplayer support isn’t being discussed, but can upload stats to Rockstar Social Club website through Wi-Fi

At least this isn't an Assassin creed DS, that means it has a chance of getting my money.

Watch them port this version to the Wii. Oo

Details here.

Screenies and artwork here

Doesn't seem to look that great. Mediocre graphics. I think I'll stick to my PSP for GTA-on-the-go and DS for more interactive games. But that's just me :p

That's a bit isometric, Phantom Hourglass wasn't iso.

Dunno if I'll get this. I love the series but 4 was disappointing and the other handheld games aren't too good on the control front. Wheel see. As far as GTA goes its all down to the gameplay so I hope this one manages to capture the glory days of GTA3 and sons.

Funny, I wrote this; "(This means you'll have to enter your age to play.)," but not the rest of the comments. I grabbed the details from a guy's blog.

Just clearing that up in case you thought it was me. You're not the only one here that does pixel art. ;)

I hope the city map is pretty close to that of GTA4. It would be cool to know how to get around and recognize stuff :D.

I hopes it isn't iso pixel art, jebus I hate that style! But if it's anything other than iso then I salute you :)

I like how they capitalized on the DS strengths and understood its weaknesses, the game looks nice and polished and not some half-assed game, trying to be like its console brother a-la Assasin's Creed DS.

Yeah, it seems as if they really put some effort into this version.

I like developers that enjoy working with in constraints and don't see it as a limitation, but more of like a kid with only so many Lego blocks -- if that make sense? I hope that when they started on the DS version, it wasn't only because of the user base, but because they wanted a challenge.

I recall UbiSoft stating Assassin's Creed couldn't be made on a Wii, then turning around and announcing the DS version. Hypocrites!

Anyone else looking forward to this?

I think it looks really good, and I cant believe it isnt being pushed a lot more.

To fit all this on a tiny cartridge seems amazing, and from the video's on youtube, they seem to have pulled it off!

For people in UK check out www.play.com

its £17.99 delievered

Not long to wait now! :)

Yep really looking forward to this. GTA1 was my favourite (many a lecture missed by playing it) and I <3 my DS so this (if it's good) could well be the perfect game for me...

I can't wait for this game! I'm expecting this to be the last great game for the DS - I haven't bought a DS game since Ninja Gaiden. I'm going to pick this one up, beat it, and then sell the DS / Ninja Gaiden / GTA combo on eBay :D

Oh btw - check out Ninja Gaiden for DS. I really had a great time with this game. One of the most innovative and fun games I ever played on my DS. Well, I'm a sucker for Advance Wars, so after that :D.

Henry Hatsworth - (super, super excited for this).
Super Mario RPG 3
Meh - I don't feel like owning a DS for Hatsworth. Mario RPG won't be bad, actually will probably be pretty good, but I beat the last two. I think i'm over them... i CANT WAIT for Chinatown Wars, but then my DS is going to straight to eBay. Hoping the new iPhone has even better graphics... or that sony comes out with a UMD-less PSP.
