Seems to have a limit anyway... I attempted a BIG file (The Hobbit + full LoTR) and Safari complained it was too big to open.
A nice trick is to install Apache on your IPT (and move its WebServer folder to the /var partition). You can then upload PDFs (and also full sites) into that folder, and point Safari to the Apache server which is on the same IPT.
You can build a small Index.html page to point to the various data, or just remember their location.

Do you need to jailbreak your ipod to do this?
Don't apps like FileMagnet do this?
