Hi,

I've downloaded a number of RAR files and joined them with terminal to create a .dmg file.

However, when I try open the .dmg file it tells me the file is 'not recognized'.

Is there any program that can tell me which of the 18 RAR files is causing the problem?

I've also tried using Split & Concat to join the files to make the .dmg and that doesn't work either.

Any help much appreciated. Thanks.

You might wanna try an app called UnRarX.

I use it all the time to compile RAR directories.
UnRarX just stops if one of that rars is corrupted, so you can see the corrupted one if this is indeed the case.

It's an application. I have files like .001.dmg, 002.dmg.

Unrar doesn't like any of the files for some reason but I can create the dmg with split and concat and Terminal.

I apologise if I'm wrong but it sounds like you're trying to pirate software.

In which case, it's against the forum rules to ask for advice...

Oh, you mean .dmg.001 .dmg.002 right?
Those aren't rar directories then.

I use split & concat for those as well.

Yeah, those files. It's just the final .dmg is corrupt, it seems.

Bartelby, it's not pirated but thanks for the info re: the rules. I wasn't aware of that.

Looks like I'll have to try download again. Thanks anyway.
