Intel Update: MacBook Airs Get Penryn, MacBooks and Pros Get Montevina Benefits

Am I wrong or the MBP can only use 1 graphic "chip" at a time?!?! No Hybrid SLI ?! Why is not possible to use the 2 chips for ultra-performance like in other PCs/notebooks ??

Great design, but no hardware innovations...

For now. And their chipset-integrated ones probably forever will.
But AFAIK they will be competing with (speaking in layman's terms) massive amounts of x86 cores next year. That could open up a whole new ballgame.

Well... as for them "looking bad". So does abandoning FireWire, right? But I think NVIDIA graphics are to stay for the next 18 months. Maybe some even AMD, but certainly not Intel.

which is faster a old mb 2.4 or the new 2.0 i dont do graphics or games. i am a programmer. i know the ram is faster on the new on but that does not matter to me

If there is no Ultimate Being, then as an atheist you should realize that there is no meaning, purpose or good/evil (everything is just a chance occurrence with no standards and no goals) and it doesn't matter who's in the White House.
Fortunately there is an U.B., so waiting for a Nehalem MB next year is worth the wait 🙂

Now, Now... there is a Lord and I can see him working wonders in my life. In regards to your specifics though....

1. Soon enough, don't rush things. Apple knows what they are doing, too often i see PC companies adopting early and running into issues...

2. This election has indeed been a circus. I do not see the wacky-ness slowing down any... I would have liked to see and heard more from Huckabee and Romny. Obama seems very radical and some of his views scare me. Palin is good, but not sure she has enough experience dealing with the DC-ites and foriegn policy. McCain, he keeps saying he has a plan, yet in the debates it is hard to figure out the details....

is there any update for iMac coming? i think cpus are already latest and 1066Mhz FSB, so we will see only next year (when nehaleam arrives)?

i'm waiting for someone to open up the new mb and mbp to reveal that they are the identical motherboard but for the mbp's "add-on" extra graphics chip and some mildly different components (cpu speed).

I wait for three month for MBP 17" but i want firewire 3200.If I did'nt get eSATA give me fw 3200 please.

I intend no harm to Apple and want them to succeed in their endeavors... But this was a very poor decision that MANY of us will agree on...

Would it be possible to keep religion (good or bad) out of the forums? I believe it is against the rules to discuss religion or politics on MacRumors and someone has managed to introduce BOTH topics in one post.

OK, this is off-topic, but that's just bizarre!
Why do we need an ultimate being for any meaning, purpose or to define good/evil? These are all abstract concepts that we can (and do) define for ourselves as we see fit (though over time, natural selection may favor different concepts). As sentient beings our choices and actions have consequences, so it really does matter who's in the White House!
And what's all this about chance? Not everything is chance, physical laws are standards aren't they, and survival is a goal isn't it?

There was a rumor that it was getting a very minor bump in November to the real Montevenia chips, but I didn't really buy it; however, given the 24" LED Cinema Display, the 24" iMac might get that screen in November. That would explain an update earlier than next year.

I have the 64 SSD in the Macbook Air, and it is incredible. The boot time for Apps is amazingly fast. As long as you don't need that extra space and could afford it, there is no question about it, go for it.

That is not nehalem. it is intel dunnington which is the last cpu based on core micro architecture.

1st cpu for MP platform based on nehalem will come in an years time. That is beckton which will be 1st 8-core cpu on a single die by intel.

How i can plugin my mouse to play games if the i/o are all on the left? This is so stupid! I cant play games with the multitouch :S
I want a USB on the right or swamp the sides. DVD to the left and the rest to the right. Apple engineers do this mac?

We lefties don't particularly mind. I say suck it up and leave the ports where they are 😉.
