I used to use a web host but now I just host my own site after building my Linux server and use DYNdns to rent a domain name it's a lot cheaper that way I went from 12 bucks a month for hosting to 3.75 a month for the domain forwarding to my IP and I don't have to worry about as many restrictions concerning my content. I probably invested about 100 bucks in the hardware but it pays for itself in the long run. Its not very difficult if you have a good ISP that has a very large monthly upload limit--My home internet service can handle about 100 times what kind of traffic my site gets.
Tips to choose a reliable iWeb hosting:
1- One of the biggest misconceptions for Mac users is that you have to select the same operating system for your hosting account that you use on your own computer. This is simply not true. In other words, you can select Linux for your hosting account if you currently use Windows or Mac operating systems on your own computer.
Here's a replacement for mobileme iWeb hosting that's worth a look:
http://www.macmate.me
It's from MacAce, who seem to be a pretty good Mac ISP from the looks of it....
I've just submitted a message to MacAce re MacMate so will be interesting to see what their reply is and how quickly they get back, they have a 2 hour respond time quoted. I'm a real newbie when it comes to www! I've designed a site using iweb and hosted on MM and now I'm having to find somewhere new and eventually change over to something like DW which is not a task I'm looking forward to! Any comments welcome! http://www.leehawkinsphotography.com.

Coming right on to the procrastinators bandwagon here..... I have just uploaded my iWeb site to fatcow.com. They have a terrific deal right now for mobile me switchers $59@yr plus free domain and unlimited sites. one HUGE problem, it did not transfer my HTML snippets and all my advertisers are now unable to be listed. Am trying to find a simple solution, and the techs there say there isn't one (that is getting a tech who doesn't give you all the directions backwards!) Anyone have any suggestions? I also have 30 day free trial, so would be willing to switch servers if they can fully capacitate iWeb
I switched my iWeb websites to DV Host (http://www.dvhost.com) last year, and have been very happy with them.
They specialise in iWeb and Mac/RapidWeaver web hosting, and even provided me with instructions and screenshots showing how to set up iWeb. That was very helpful.
I think they're a solid alternative to MobileMe iWeb hosting, especially now that the service is being discontinued by Apple. Especially since the service only costs $3.99/month, which even calculated over a year is less than half the price of MobileMe. So overall I'm saving money with the iCloud transition, though I do wish Apple would update iWeb more often.
