I'm getting around 330kbps according to www.inetworktest.com.

It is about 760kbps according to the other site listed above.

I'm in Tennessee.

My bad

Here's the correct reading using 3G from the same location that I used on my first try. I noticed I get faster download speeds with 3G and faster uploads with wi fi.

I wish I could take part, but there doesn't appear to be 3G around here. Or EDGE. I'm in London.

Traveling around the U.S. I've seen most 3G speeds to be about 1,000 - 1,200 kbps.

The best I ever saw was in the Outer Banks in North Carolina where I hit 1,700.
The worse was Manhatten in New York. I pretty much got EDGE-like speeds of 150 - 200 the whole time I was there.

I don't know how accurate these tests are, but I can at least judge which places are better or worse. Generally, rural areas that have just gotten 3G tend to be the best. Cities have better coverage, but even with 5 bars the speeds tend to not be as fast. More users, I guess.

since the results of the various speed testing apps/sites vary so much, i think we should all use the same one to have any meaningful comparisons. and since we started with the xtreme labs one, we should continue with that.
