iPod Does an iPod Shuffle come pre-charged? (Solved)

First off, Merry Christmas!

Santa just brought me my first iPod and had a couple of quick questions:

Does the Shuffle come pre-charged? It took less than an hour to charge via my MBP, even though Apple's support page says it should take about 4hrs to charge. I assumed when the green light comes on it is fully charged. Correct? Just want to make sure I start it's life out properly. I've been listening to it for the last hour and I love it already!

Also, the lights on it are not lit now that I'm playing it, no green, orange or red. Is this normal?

They're charged to 50% I believe.
If green light comes on it's charged.
The light turns off whilst playing to save power.
