Finally prepared for shipment!

I ordered back on Feb 4 and just saw that my status changed in the last 30 minutes to "prepared for shipment". Delivery has been showing Feb16-Feb24 for the past week or so. I'm hoping I'll have it by Friday! It's the 2.93 with 320GB 7200 drive.

I don't want to be rude in asking this, or making any suggestions, but was your credit card in sufficient funds during the whole period between when you've ordered it and now? I ask, since I'd hate to see my order bumped down the priority simply because I've gone and used the wrong card, such that when Apple came to collect they'd find insufficient funds!

If that's not the case, and you are sure to be on a waiting list that's similar to many others who've got theirs coming .. ask to speak to a Supervisor or someone more senior and see if they can sort this out.

Sadly, as much as Apple is renowned for customer service ... those on the help line are very "robotic". Every time I've called about my March delivery, I get a response that is totally useless (last time was earlier today, I asked if I could expedite delivery by cancelling the matt-screen, and no reply until now).

I hope you can sort it out.

:D It's not a credit issue, the card doesn't have a limit and when I spoke with the guy this morning he said there were no issues with my order and it should ship the 19th. I guess they only see what we see and nothing more. They are friendly I will give them that but very misinformed, the fact that that lady insisted that no macbooks have been shipped yet tells me they have some major issues over there.

The ONLY thing I can think of is I ordered it from the ADC hardware store but so have other people and they've had theirs shipped. The guy said ordering from there can delay it a day since they have to verify your account but he said that souldn't effect it since the order was placed over a month ago. I'm lost, and upset. :-(

I just called and got nothing on my Jan. 17th order. Of course mine is 2.93 w/ 7200rpm HD. I did want the miniport to DVI adapter to I clicked that box. Maybe there's a shortage or something on that and it's holding my entire order? It is kindof lame when you see Feb pre-order dates shipping.

Someone mentioned no SSD orders flipping yet: FWIW, I opted for the 256GB SSD, placed on Jan 28th. Still Not Yet Shipped.

I'm dyin' here.

Here are some pics. This thing really goes. Running some Cinebench tests now.

Yes, I was told from Apple Business rep yesterday that certainly items can be shipped early, but the 19th is the ship date; therefore, it should be shipped before or on the 19th.

I am located in NY, NY I placed my order on the 6th of january at 11:43am from the Education Online Store. My order still says "Prepared for Shipping" with a ship date of Feb 19th and delivery Feb 20th. Do you think it is possible that I can receive it sooner then this? Any reports of the online Apple Order Status being messed up and not up to date? Please please tell me yes. I cant wait!!!!

Very nice! Congrats on receiving it early. I can't wait for mine. Please post some benchmarks when you get a chance!

At first UPS said it'd arrive on 2/19 which is when I'll be flying to the US for two weeks, but now it has been updated to a rescheduled delivery of tomorrow 2/18. That would be really good if it comes through as I'll have just enough time to get it ready to go with me. Part of why I bought the 17" was for these long trips visiting family and friends when I still need to do work.

To repeat I'm a stock order (planning on putting a 500gb 7200rpm drive myself) except DVI adapter, US keyboard layout and Swedish country package.

Sounds great! Enjoy it. We know you have waited.

Size comparison

It would be great to see a size comparison of a new 17” Macbook Pro, so if any of you lucky people who are receiving their new toy today could take some pictures comparing it with another (apple) laptop, that would be great!

Yeah, the ball should start rolling for just about everyone ordering early Feb and sooner by now.

You know, most Jan buyers that are upset by Feb buyers getting theirs ready for shipment could wait 24 hours and they would probably have theirs on a truck as well.

I can say this because I ordered 1/22 and haven't seen a change since my ship date was moved from 2/12 to 2/19. Not that much of a delay and they say it will ship the 19th or sooner. Why would I doubt them?

I ordered one with the SSD option on Jan 13. My ship date says Feb 19. They have preauthorized my CC but so far no movement on my order.

Do you still have the ability to cancel? Just curious if that option has been grayed out on your order status form.

Size comparisons.. Previous 17" on bottom, New 17" in the middle, 15" on top.
......

Great! It certainly looks somewhat thinner than the other 2 (older) Macbook Pro’s, what's your opinion having hands-on experience?:)

Apple has a distribution centre in Ireland, near Dell's. They dont make anything there, but they've probably got loads of these in crates waiting to be shipped to the rest of Ireland and the UK.

The Cork centre is used for Mac Pros, as they do any build-to-order options there, and the machines have the CK identifier in the serial number. However, Cork does not deal with laptops, and all laptops come straight from China.

It's probable that Cork simply gets machines in from China as stock and then adjusts them to the BTO requirements, but Cork still applies the spec stickers ;)
