can I convert what i drew in Core Animation Layers to QuickTime?

the only documentation about quicktime exports are the ones that explain how to do it from external hardware like cameras....

the only one that captures off screen is a screen capture thing, but that only reads from an OpenGL context and it buggers up the capture whenever you tell it to record from a particular NSView or derivative of NSView

surely someone out there knows... its not like exporting quicktime clips is new...

it seems quite challenging to get the recording to output a smooth 5 second clip...
the QTMakeTime(long long) is quite hard to predict....

ok,
it's not that it's hard to predict... it's that the method that Matthew Long fellow just drops a lot of frames or something... the 10 second animation only records as 2.66 seconds...

i'm going to guess it's a fault with the NSTimer because i don't see any reason for it to not capture the frame each 1/25 of a second
