How would Att even tell what you are using your data for.
In the case of the iPhone, they can pressure Apple to not release these certain apps. (at least not the non wifi parts)

FWIW, look before you jump. Sprint has the same restrictions that AT&T just added, so a getting a Pre won't help you any. Verizon and T-Mobile also have the same restrictions.

Damn this is what you call ownage.
If they do actually pull something like this in the future, it would be nice if they made the iPhone data plan a choice instead of a requirement.
I know a lot of people use the data plan via 3G, but for me and many others, the data plan isn't necessary.
If this is done, it'll cost another $200 per phone and people will whine about that.
Maybe I would be surprised at how much I would use it after I got an iPhone though?
This isn't an at&t rule, Apple made this rule.It sucks that AT&T doesn't let iPhone users turn off their data plan. Not everyone uses the internet 24/7 wherever they go.
