You may give your statement some credibility by telling who your sources are. If you're right we might see another seed this week, perhaps today.

Well I will not reveal the sources but you can thank the new iPhone code that has to be it on the non-release just yet. They are worried that the code could give clues to the new iPhone at WWDC.

Ok, so like you said earlier; Mac OS X 10.5.7 won't be released until late May, am I right? That would clarify the fact AppleInsider removed their blog posting stating the update was already internally available to Apple developers.

Why would Apple wait until the end of May to release the update when it fixes so many bugs that people are obviously having problems with? I, for one, would appreciate the Bluetooth stability as it's very frustrating using my wireless keyboard and mouse when they stop responding for no reason! 10.5.7 would be much appreciated right now!

they're just trying to work out as many of the quirks as possible.

There's a difference between "waiting" just to piss people off and TESTING to make sure the update doesn't have any regression bugs (fixes that if fixes something, could break something else). They don't want to repeat the "perl" incident they had with 10.5.6.

Oh yeah that would be nice with the Bluetooth mouse/keyboard. Curiously they never seem to stop responding under boot camped Vista. But then again, not much at all is wrong with boot camped Vista.

I hope 10.5.7 fixes DFU mode, I hate having to install old "drivers" from 10.5.5 to get it to work.

Now probably next week for 10.5.7

Looks like we'll have to wait longer...

Apple Insider says...

"Once presumed to be racing towards the finish line with Mac OS X 10.5.7, Apple's now said to be easing into the release of the Leopard update and making sure all its ends are tied.

Rumors of the software's imminent release have swirled for about two weeks now but on Wednesday developers were reportedly asked to put their weight on yet another pre-release distribution carrying build number 9J58.

Like those that came before it, the latest build corrects just a couple of issues -- one related to iChat and the other Safari -- and continues to list incompatibility with the public beta of Safari 4.0 as its lone issue."

Limping Leopard. Grrr....

hmmm
last seed had only a small BT issue to deal with...TODAY-or Ill eat this Apple-dont believe me?-just watch!

I dont get it.

If there are no bugs to tie up then that means 10.5.7 is perfect which I dont see as being possible.

Unless fixes have broken other things.

Seems all rather... pointless.

Release it and work on 10.5.8!?!

This might provide some insight to the significance of this update.. it seems like Apple may be cooking a bigger roast than was first thought!! Which would explain the delays ...

I bet it's ready to be released, but maybe they have firmware updates that are being tested to go along with the update. We usually see some kind of firmware update after new Macs have been released. Also, maybe they are putting the final finishes on Safari 4 and will be releasing that along with the update. Whatever the reason, though, I would really like to see 10.5.7 sooner than later.

LAST LEO update!? until Sept?
Too many are thinking under the delusion that SL will be out in a month

Snow Leopard will probably be announced next month when it will ship and that most likely will be Sept or Early October. So 10.5.7 should be out next week or the week after at the latest, and 10.5.8 will be out just before Snow Leopard is due out. Of course this is rumor. ;)

Well so far my prediction is panning out. I been told (I can not get that person fired) that it should come out around the third week of May because it contains code that can be found that will give clues out to what's coming at WWDC + Snow Leopard clues. 10.5.7 will be the last major update until Snow Leopard, mark my words.

Maybe Sooner?

I've been on the phone with apple a lot recently concerning a problem with my new Mac Pro. Various tech support, product specialists, and engineers have called me with questions trying to isolate the issue which they wanted to fix "before the next patch." Yesterday I talked to a product specialist who said that the engineers had fixed the issue and put it in 10.5.7, which they expect to be released in the next 4 days.

We'll see... Maybe it will come sooner;)

I just got off the phone with AppleCare. The lady said that 10.5.7 was supposed to come out last week but was pulled back for some reason. She also said that they just updated her computer system this morning to allow her to help people with problems. Hope this means it will be out on monday

Hm. So I guess the question becomes was 61 the gold build, or was 61 the result of the bug that they needed to fix?
