hey guys, i woke up this morning and my iPod was dead. i turned it on and i had 2% battery left. i plugged it in to this Apple charger thing i got at the Apple storewhen i got my iPod Touch. i saw it wasnt charging so i thought it was the charger so i plugged my iPod into my laptop but nothing happened. my iPod died after i plugged it into my iPod so i knew it wasnt charging. i tried all 4 USB ports on my laptop and all the ports on my desktop computer but nothing. when i try to turn it on i get the red battery thing. i didnt do anything to my iPod, it was working fine the other day and it was only under my pillow overnight not charging. this iPod isnt even a year old, i got it last christmas. i dropped it on the sidewalk once but that was a few months ago and it worked fine after that. please help me

Any chance it could be your connector cable? If that got damaged no connection will form (obviously) - do you have spare?

It should be charging, if you don't have another charging cable like a previous poster suggested, I would set up an appointment at a genius bar, and have it looked at since you are still under warranty.

i said i tried my second cable. do i still have the warranty even though i jailbroke it? i thought that voids the warranty?

Do you have access to another iPod with the same dock connector that you can test out the cables. (can't tell you have many times I swapped a bad cable for another bad cable...)

Does the computer recognize that it has been plugged in?

Leave it plugged in for a while. It may be so dead that it will take a while for it to bolster up enough power to show that it is charging...

Really strange!

If you aren't sure about the warranty, you have nothing to loose by booking a genius appointment (I'd recommend removing traces of jailbreak as previously mentioned) - the genius will fix it if it's in warranty, and you won't loose out if it's not (except for a bit of time).

when you say genius do you mean an iPod Touch specialist at the Apple store?

Yep - though they're usually all specialists in everything!

Even if you didn't but it from an Apple store, or if you don't have the receipt they'll still usually take a look and sort it out, as they can track their products by serial number.

Then it looks like you are SOL for now. I would leave it plugged in, and schedule a genius bar appointment, and leave it plugged in until then, and hopefully it will turn on in the meanwhile. Keep us updated on what the people at the Apple Store say. :)

ok, i will do that. thanks

will Apple work on my iPod even though its jailbroken?
