If you have SBC or one of their related phone companies, you may be able to get their DSL for $26.95 a month by signing up online.

Currently using SBC DSL for $30/month w/ 1.5MB/256KB.

Once the damn SBC contract ends, gonna switch over to Comcast Cable for $25 /1st 3 months, then $43 after. But the speed will be 6MB/256KB. Man, I can download all the porn 4 times faster. OMFG, my eyes, my eyes.

In Columbus I had WideOpenWest iinternet service and cable tv...

For $45 a month you get 72channels of cable tv and 1.5mbps. It blows the doors off roadrunner service.

Now I have earthlink cable through time warner lines... its $29.95 a month and I get nearly 2mbps... it'll do. Good luck!

I intend on megabytes per second, but I'm too lazy to look up the proper acronym.

MediaCom is a good deal. Cheap, and like Comcast... Everytime Comcast upgrades their speed, Mediacom does as well... Right now we're at 3300/256. NEVER ANY PROBLEMS, GREAT customer support!

I could not live without Cable HSI, cable is my choice for internet

earthlink sucks!

Earthlink customer service/ tech support sucks!
20 to 30 min on hold every time you call although i have not tried 2 A.M.
My contract is up and sbc is available in my area (Costa Mesa CA), and you guessed right, they are out! The internet is o.k. the connection is frequently lost though. I recommend finding a different ISP other than Earthlink. But I could very well be an isolated case (DOUBTFUL).

Well, my parents pay about $35 per month with Cox. 3mbit/256k (I wish the upload was faster though)

Wow! Good deal, compared to what we have. For $35.99 a month you can get "DSL Light" from Verizon, which is 256k download, I'm not sure of the upload speed. I have a cable modem from Adelphia. I'm not sure exactly what the price is now. I have a package deal with some movie channels, digital cable, and internet for about $95.00 per month. Two years ago, cable internet from Adelphia was $42.00 a month for cable tv subscribers, and I think $55 a month if you don't have the television service. I believe the top download speed is 2mb/s, but a bill not long ago mentioned future speed increases. When I had Verizon's DSL a few years ago, I never had a problem with it. Adelphia sucks! (here, anyway) It can get really slow a lot of times, and sometimes I have no connection at all. Their customer service is a pain, as well. I'm thinking about getting rid of it all anyway. I rarely watch television, and my kids watch too much while I am at work. And, I am trying to pay off all my debt, so I could use that $95 a month. And that will go to around $115 in a couple of months when the special runs out. I'm thinking no cable tv, and the cheapest dial up I can find.

LMAO, it's Funny you say that but I have to agree with u about the Porn stuff , i Feel the only real reason people want faster download speeds is to get Movies and Porn , Porn being the #1 reason , Internet Porn has to be the nets biggest Cash Cow. Let's face it net speed has gotten to a point where it really dosen't matter if u have a 3Mb/s or 10Mb/s download speed web pages are not going to load up fast enough for you to notice the difference.

the only way a person can tell the difference between a 3Mb or 10Mb connection is if they were downloading huge 100MB+ files....like DVD Quality Porn movies in .avi format that are like 2-3-400MB large...lol

on my 10Mb/1Mb cable connection with Optimum Online i have downloaded songs on the iTMS in 5-7 sec depending on size (yes i have timed this with a stop watch). so at this point and time increased DL speed isn't really a huge issue unless ur a porn addict. i say till someone comes out with a Movie store like the iTMS we really won't need the speed. only thing we need now is better uploading.

I never heard of anyone in the real world that actually had OOL available to them... Where do they exist?

Wow, that's almost alughable... to hold SBC up as reliable and customer oriented. That's the singlest worst compamy I've EVER dealt with and I personally I've vowed to NEVER use them again.

SBC doesn't bill corretly, their service wasn't what was advertised, the customer service people are ignorant (one lady told be I could get cable modem service.. I was like "you mean DSL?" and she said "No its a cable modem..." and we had a discussion because she claimed that DSL service comes in through a cable modem), and then contracts and ugh... Its so bad. Do yourself a favor and never even consider it.
