From Blues News, in a concise press release, id Software is planning to release/announce (?) new games at QuakeCon in August:

NEW GAMES FROM ID SOFTWARE.

QUAKECON 2001

AUG. 9 - 12 -- MESQUITE, TEXAS

A follow up press release localizes it to Aug 10th. As you must know, Carmack has always been a strong proponent of NeXTStep and subsequently Mac OS X. Presumably, any new games from id would be also released on OS X. I guess we'll see in August.

They haven't got Q3A finished on OS X yet. I'm not going for any hype til they finish Q3A.

A tenuous link given Graeme DeVines great claims for the mac and altivi after christmas, and the subsequent no show and generally poor performance of later point releases.

amybe they just mean new games for comsoles like the x-box. that would seem more likely given the timing...or new games for release in a year or so....
