Dropped my iPhone from waist height, about 3 footish, fell onto its face and cracked. Not Happy.

Totally my fault, how much is the refurb in the Uk? Need to get one ASAP.

Pics if you want, but it looks like every other cracked iPhone.

how bad is it? does it still work?

Apple covers 1 crack on the screen if you have something else wrong with the phone, such as a battery that doesn't hold charge or broken buttons

Was looking for Uk prices, I know it's $199 in the US, also wondering if it's more because it's a 3G S.

Phone still works, typing on it, but some parts are hard to read, and the touch screen is jagged, and little shards come out.

There's probably atleast 200 cracklines in this, and it's just going to get worse >.>

There's TONS of places on the net that will repair your phone. You can do it yourself if you want as well. Most places will charge < $100 to replace cracked glass and the case .

I'm having to replace my 3G after dropping but luckily it is insured through the Bank account I have.

They're sending me £350.42 for a replacement phone as they can't purchase and give to me.

Only downside is i have been waiting a MONTH for this now......

Rang Apple today, said it will cost about £160 to replace the phone, cost of the screen repair.

Going to look into the insurance, have a £50 excess, but would be nice if i could get the money for a new iPhone, has to cost more to repair it though, kinda hard on a £540 phone :/

Is this through a Lloyds TSB bank account? If so, whats the hold up???

I have exactly the same issue(Cracked Screen) but have not yet made my insurance claim.

I am going to go to the Apple store tonight in Regent street and see what they say. I have heard a sympathetic employee might swap for free???

Also, I will be in Bangkok on Monday and know a place that will fix the screen for £30 using OEM parts.

Thoughts?

I don't understand why you didn't just call them in the first place instead of posting another thread about this?

I Spent half an hour with a Phone with a cracked screen against my face, i have loads of tiny shards of glass in my cheek.

The forum seemed simpler, satisfied?

Anyway, its £50 and i lose my Insurance NCB, and my quote goes up, or £160ish and Apple Swap it.

Also, friend had a 2G in a draw not being used, so im currently back to basics with an 8Gb 2G, feels better made than my 3G S lol

My God

Keep that screen away from your face! Use your ear bud mic/bluetooth if you can.

My eyes hurt looking at it...my condolences.

Sounds VERY familiar!

Wouldn't happen to be Natwest Account would it? (£25 excess)?

I am contemplating using this at the moment, if you have to wait ages then I might re-consider.

Sorry bummer

This is why I don't go naked! At some point I know my luck goes bad. So far I've dropped mine about 3 times, not a scratch! Worst was from my shirt pocket on the pavment.

That doesn't look like it was dropped 3 feet.
More like dropped, then thrown/stepped on.

That doesn't look like it was dropped from 3 feet. Unless you threw it/stepped on it afterwards.

The Phone has no scratches on it from the drop, and it was waist height, im about 5'7, so 3 feet ish. I Always swirl the phone so its the right way up, so it had a bit more force than just a 3 feet drop, and it of course gets worse as i have used it.
