What is the difference between the generations of Time Capsules?

I believe there are only 3 generations:

Gen 1 TC: Single Band
Gen 2 TC: Dual Band (will run both 2.4ghz and 5ghz bands simultaneously)
Gen 3 TC (announced last week): Dual Band w/ additional antenna to boost coverage.

If you're getting a good deal on a Gen 2 (dual band) I don't think it is worth another $125 to get a Gen 3. Now if the question was Gen 1 to Gen 2 - there is a big upside to the dual band.

If price is an issue and the additional antenna (to boost coverage) is important - you should consider getting a new AEBS w/ an external HD.

I think it is fair. Just make sure it is the one that supports dual bands. That was the significant difference between the generations.

Gen 3 - Dual Band (1TB/2TB) - increased storage
Gen 4 - Dual Band (1TB/2TB) - increased coverage/throughput/Time Machine backups via SL, current gen

Apple's selling refurb 1st gen 1TB TC for $249. Judging from that alone I'd say it's a fair price.
