Linking iPad to iPhone for photo transfer

I've downloaded three apps that claim to make it easy to transfer photos from the iPhone 3GS to the iPad either by Bluetooth or WiFi but none of them work for me.

I'm speaking of Camera for iPad, PhotoShare+, and WiFiPhoto.

Have any of you had better success? Any suggestions?

you might try airshare or do it via an upload to photobucket and then download it . There is a photobucket app for the iphone and another for the ipad

I wonde if the IPAD CAMERA CONNECTION KIT will unleash some software that might help.

Camera for iPad works now

I couldn't get it to work at first. but then I re-read the instructions (duh) and got it working.

Here's how it works.
You make sure Bluetooth is enabled on both iPad and iPhone.

You install "Camera for iPad" app on both the iPad and the iPhone 3GS. Launch it on both the iPad and iPhone. The iPad and iPhone will find each other. Select each other and the connection is made.

Aim the iPhone. Click "Take Photo" on the iPad. The iPhone takes the photo and uploads it to the iPad "Photos" library.

The developer is planning a WiFi version which will transfer the photo faster than Bluetooth.

Can you send a photo already taken on the iphone from it's gallery to the ipad's gallery?

PhotoShare+ also works now.

Again, once I had a copy downloaded and launched on both the iPad and iPhone, I was able to move photos easily from the Photo Library of the iPhone to the iPad (or vice versa).

However, if you take a photo on the iPhone to be sent to the iPad while connected, you lose the connection. Of course, it's easier to take a bunch of photos and then transfer just the ones you want on the iPad from the Photo Library of the iPhone.

Not that I can see. But PhotoShare+ claims to do both. I can get the Library transfer to work but I lose connection if I try to take a photo for immediate transfer.

So my solution for now is to use Camera for iPad for "live" transfers and PhotoShare+ for moving the Photo Library items in either direction.

Do you need the app on both iphone and ipad? If so, do you have to buy it twice? I don't see it as an official ipad app nor do I see the + sign on the price indicating a universal binary.

the camera connection kit / dongle lets you do just what you are trying to do. Plug the USB connector into the iPad, then use your sync cable to your iPhone.

There is a app called mover (free and a paid one I have just the free). This app was out before iPad it was used for iPhone to iPhone transfers. You can transfer any picture you have in your iPhones photo gallery.

Just discovered Bump will transfer photos as well as contacts via wifi. It's free but can only send 4 photos at a time. Just tried it and it works!

Paid version of mover supports transfer of videos too.

You only need to pay for the app once to run it on your iPad and your iPhone. Currently it runs on 'emulation mode' on iPad but we are releasing the native version for iPad as a free update next week.

Is there an ipad specific app or just the iPhone app that runs on the ipad?

Currently the app runs as in iPhone app on the iPad but we are working on the native iPad app right now and we plan to have it ready early next week as a free update to the iPhone app (universal app).

Unfortunately we are running out of promo codes but I hope we can get more when we release the iPad app next week - not sure if Apple will give us promo code for universal apps, anyone knows? - I'll let you know when the app is out and if we got new promo codes.

Photo Transfer App

Hello Everyone,
I wanted to tell you that Photo Transfer App is now available as universal app for iPhone and iPad. You can now transfer photos from iPhone directly to iPad or from your computer to your iPad over wifi. This comes as a free update to the existing app I mentioned earlier in this thread.

The Connection Kit can transfer photos stored in the iPhone's Camera Roll, but I'm not sure about photos that are synced to the iPhone(I'd doubt it, tbh).

Why not look at using something like Dropbox? Just set it up to sync between your iphone and ipad.

You may use a third-party software for transferring photos from iPhone to ipad or iPad to iPhone.
Just google "iPhone to iPad" or "iPad transfer", you can get the lists of corresponding results.

Can you tell me if your app requires being inside a wireless network to achieve WIFI transfer? I am looking for the ability to transfer photos to my iPad from my iPhone in the field for markup. I am in the contracting business and take photos while on the job site. There will be no WIFI available and BT seems to be too slow to transfer. Thanks.

If you're a MobileMe user, you can easily send a picture to yourself via email.

Best way of doing this is to select "Email Photo" then hit cancel and press "Save draft". After your mailbox has synced, you'll be able to access the photo in the draft folder on your iPad, Mac etc...

Saving as draft also means your inbox doesn't get clogged up with lots of photos!
