Has anyone else noticed an issue with the iPad and hotmail. I don't use hotmail much, but the iPad keeps freezing whenever I try to reply to a message. Safari locks up and I have to powercycle, holding down the home button doesn't seem to force quit the app. I thought maybe it was just one message, but I cannot respond to any.

Anyone else?

people still use hotmail? eek...

I'd do whatever I could to just switch it to something more modern and compliant, yahoo, gmail, something. save you the trouble of having to deal with the issue you're having that may or may not be easy to fix.

I just tried the mobile version and it works. I guess I will have to use that. Funny, the full version works on my iPhone if I force ti to abandon the mobile version.

I only use it as a junk mail address, like for ordering things, or signing up on forums, (cough)porn(cough) to be sure no crap mail gets sent to my mobile me, work or personal domain email. I've had the account for 14 years.

Same here.

I also use a hotmail for junk and noticed this issue Saturday night. I was able to reload safari by loading another app that uses data service then re-load safari.

I have only ever used the website version of hotmail so thanks for the tip about mobile version will look it up.

Edit: Just tried it Works great!!! Now I wont need any other junk mail setup as suggested by others so thanks everyone you saved me time.

I also now realize my iPhone was using mobile by default now my iPad mobile hotmail works great.

Another tip I added this mobile msn link to my iPad safari home and now I have an msn app link on my iPads desktop is a microsoft butterfly app icon now that's cool.

Same problem on my IPad. Goes so far but as soon as I try to reply forward or send it freezes - likewise with safari when I go back to the homepage it freezes for a few moments until I swap a between home page and safari. I am not a hotmail user but my wife is - may have to change her mail app

I didn't know that your iPhone and iPad chose the mobile "edition" for hotmail by default. Thanks :)

It seems like just in the past few days my hotmail account inside of safari and atomic browser are accessing the hm account via mobile...but prior to that it would access it like I was on a desktop. Is it possible that I have turned off something that was allowing it to work right (I would prefer the desktop version..easier to view the entire box at a time).

Thanks!

I just forward hotmail to gmail and use gmail on the iPad. Works like a charm.

Hmmm. I will give this a try. I guess one reason is that when I do log in via the internet portal, I DO like hotmail...but DISLIKE Gmail. I guess this is something I will have to get used to...and is something I have already been considering, especially since getting the ipad. I have three different Gmail accounts that either personally use or am responsible for checking. One thing I have been disappointed in is that I still can't seem to make sure of folder in Gmail even though I can see them.

...why do you don't use it POP3 wise with the mail client? This works like a charm!

Well, I guess because every email ends up having to be deleted again and again until I delete them off the server. And, since I still use a iPhone (sans la phone), this means I end up deleting stuff twice. I know there is an App out there that does a better job of using Hotmail...accessing folders, and what not, but I am on a temporary ipad (a wifi for the wife...while I wait for a 3g), and between crashed computers for iTunes synced computer.

Have you come up with a better solution? Or are you using that App that syncs Hotmail better?

Thanks for the suggestions.

I've got a hotmail address I've had for over 10 years, I just have too many contact on it to migrate, and I like hotmail actually. It has a much better layout than gmail, hotmail also lets me link a lot of stuff on the same page.

But to the OP, if you really need hotmail and cant live without it get izymail, it lets you setup your ipad/iphone to use hotmail with IMAP, this lets you have all your folders on your ipad/iphone and also syncs everything, ie: delete an email from ipad it's deleted everywhere. You can use PoP3 for free to set it up, but then you only have your inbox, otherwise IMAP thru izymail is like 17 bucks a year, but it works perfectly.

That's exactly what I use it for as well. Most people I know have a hotmail account for that specific reason.

I know this is an older thread, but each day I grow more tired of trying manage my hotmail in the Apple email app.

I was hopeful that the PO3 settings would set it up so that when I delete on the ipad, it would delete on the server, but it still does not. Why??

Also, a couple of you all mentioned setting hotmail to forward to gmail, but when I tried, it said I could not do that. What am I doing wrong? How did you all enable forwarding?

Thanks!!

You need imap for that. Izymail is your best bet if you can't live without hotmail, well worth it until lazy MS implements imap.

Did you ever figure out how to stop safari loading hotmail as the mobile version?

It's driving me nuts.

I use Mbox on my iPhone and iPad (with full force). Over the last few months I've found that deleting emails don't really delete them and they come back a few times, anyone else have this issue?
