Dear All,

Because I changed sometimes the hard disk on my bay from mac pro, I started to get problem with the screw.

Should I use some specific screw or anyone that fits?

Is it possible to buy the same one that comes with the macpro?

Thank you

Any screw with the right threading and length will probably work, but it's much better to get the nicer ones that Apple uses. They might also reduce vibration and such so it's not a bad idea.

The role of vibration reduction comes from those rubber gaskets around the screws, and replacing the screw itself while keeping the gasket in isn't easy. I'd recommend lubing up the new screw to fit in where you *carefully* removed the stripped one.

I did this once, they can get very pricey! This is where I bought the 8 I have from...just make sure you are buying for the right model (06-08 vs 09 designs)

Right, but it's still a small cost compared to having to fix stripped threads on the drives themselves.
