I'm in the market for a new Mac Pro. I see a good deal on the previous generation quads on Amazon. $2,080 for the 2009 2.66GHz quad vs. $2,424 for the 2010 2.8GHz quad.

So the 2010 quad is 16% more expensive vs. 5% higher clock speed. Is there any reason to buy the new 2.8 over the old 2.66?

Boots in 64-bit mode, may not be that big of a deal but who knows?

Bigger, and probably better, hard drive.

Built in wifi.

Way better base video card.

Plus, as you noted, a little bit faster.

The bigger HD, built-in WIFI and the better 5770 video card are worth every penny... (assuming the 2009 comes with the GT120, and not the 4870)... not to mention a bit faster CPU and RAM.... so if your budget allows it, go with the 2010.

cheers!
