I have a mac mini as a media station under my plasma tv.
The audio out on the back of the mac is connected with a digital cable going to the digital input on my reciever.
So now I get surround sound without problem when playing dvd in mac´s dvd player.
Whats next is that I need some convenient way to make other audio also come out of the speakers.
But there is no sound transmitted when I play mp3´s and other system sound other than dvd´s so I have to switch cable to a regular stereoplug -> 2 mono rca and then I can play stereo sound.
Maybe there is a way to convert pcm-signals to i.e. ac3 and that way be able to hear all sounds from the mac in the digital connection?
