i am in Canada this week and i dont want to roam..

So I used Free VoIP straight from the app store. Works good because i did zero configuration and i used in on WIFI.

But

there are audio ads before the call, and the call time is restricted and hangs up on me with no warning...

is there any other app like this out there ? even pay services?

this is cool but i am hoping for cooler............

thanks

I would guess Skype is the best paid service. Whistle is free, but I don't know about Canada.

For me SIP just adds one more part to the equation. I would personally stick to an all in one provider so you don't run into continually changing compatibility issues.

thanks

one more question

what is SIP ?

SIP is the best for cheap/free international calls. I use rynga.com and you can configure a client such as acrobits softphone (available in the app store) to use this site. Calls are very cheap, no advertising and when configure correctly it looks like you are calling people from your mobile/home number.

A good site which compares call prices of SIP providers: http://backsla.sh/betamax
