Which is better 4.1 or 3.1.2?

Better is such a vague term. Better for features? Performance? Compatibility with apps? To jailbreak?

It's been a while since i upgraded from 3.1.2 so i can't really remember the difference.
What has upset me is, since i updated 4.x, the phone's battery lasts 2-3 hours. Apps lags, freeze and quit, same applies for Phone app.
The 3.1.2, battery lasted 5 hours, apps never lagged, froze or quit randomly. Only thing i didn't like was no multitasking, i had backgrounder app installed so i had to end the app the long way.
