hi guys,

installed an ssd today. now the thinking was to have osx on it along with the programs. but to relocate my itunes library to a hard disk i use for media.

basically i followed apples help document and moved the stuff to my media hard disk.

but, how on earth do i get my itunes on the ssd to acquire all of my apps/music/playlists etc?

i cant figure out how to do it guys :(

push the keys "alt" and "ctrl" at the same time you open itunes, and then you can select your library
Sorry for my english

thanks for super fast responses :)

milan: i have done, but theres nothing showing in my apps or music libraries on itunes?

tarizo: when i try that it just asks me to sign in and doesnt do anything when i do?

thanks guys!

this is the only glitch im having with an otherwise awesome ssd experiance

Are you sure that you are pressing the rigth keys? They are: key ALT and key CTRL and do it at the same time or, if you prefer, BEFORE you click on the itunes icon
try again

tarizo, my apologies! its now asking for the library, but its saying theres no library file there?

everythings copied over music wise, im guessing it needs a specific file though which has everything stored in it?

thanks for your help mate :)

Itunes---preferences---Advanced, then choose the target library folder on your media hdd, after that, repeat the process again (alt + ctrl and open itunes)

ah right, well i tried that initially but the folder has a red icon on it and says i dont have permission to look at it.

is that because its from another mac installation? i.e. its from the old hard disk my macpro came with

Are you saying you can not see the contents of your "itunes library" of your new media hard drive?

basically when i do what you said, it wants me to show it where my itunes library file is?

when i show it, it says its locked or only has read only access.

but i have been into the file via the get info option and unlocked it for me and administrators.

but it still says it cannot use it due to it being locked. :(

yes :)

what i hadnt done is set a permission for me to alter the itunes folder!

did that and boom, it flew into life!

thanks so much tarizo, id never have known how add a library to that! :)
