MacBook Issue - HELP

I am selling my macbook and i wanted to do a clean install. So i put the install disk in and said erase and install factory settings?

It got as far as clearing my HDD but then its getting hung up on the disk. It says i might have scratches. I cleaned the disk and pput it back in. Still not working. The HDD is blank now and it wont boot up at all without putting thee install disk in.

this macbook is white, about 4 years old. intel.

WTF? FML.

Try PRAM and SMC reset. It could also be a bad DVD drive but just keep trying

I tried PRAM, nothing. What is the SMC reset again?

thanks for the help. I think its reading the disk now. after about 15 tries. i'll let you know if I have anymore issues.
