I plan on on getting a mac book. but I am not sure what to get

The air, pro, or just the macbook. I plan on using it for school work internet and maybe games.

I have about $500-$800 to get one with. ANY IDEAS?:apple:

The air you can forget about. The MBP would be an older model and used in that price range. The MacBook you can get (just barely) via refurbish.

However, in your case and at this point in time, you will probably be better off getting a PC. Take a look at CNET's back to school 2010 laptop reviews. Specifically, take a look at Toshiba's Portege R705-P25 which you can get at Best Buy for $799.99. (It got the CNET editor's choice award and has everything in it the 13" MacBook Pro should have had.) It may not be a Mac, but still pretty nice.

Even refurb ones won't meet your price range. Try eBay or Craigslist - you probably get a decent Macbook for that range (doubt if you can get the MBA or MBP)

A nice 13" late model MacBook Pro off eBay might be an option. I have seen them go in the $700 range on eBay, year old machine.

The average take for a pass-the-note bank robbery is $1,600-.

Put that with what you have and you can get a 15" MBP.

Save up another $200 and get a MacBook and be happy, or see if you can get an educational discount to buy one cheaper. You can then upgrade the memory and hard drive as your funds allow plus it has the EXACT same spec as the base model MacBook Pro, it just lacks the unibody case, backlit keyboard and the glass covered screen.
Otherwise buy from the refurb store, I wouldn't trust ebay.

If you cannot afford anymore money or are not a college student then this is a pretty good buy:
