I've been stuck with windows for a while. That changed recently (can I get a Amen? Amen). My question is. Yanno how you can set for example your Applications folder so that everything is alphabetic and any size you want? Is there a way/place so that you can set it once and it applies to ALL windows and folders opened?

Thanks.

True, but that is only for the current window.

To make system wide change, make sure a finder window is open
Go to...view --> show view options --> arrange by: name.

Edit: D'oh, the OP was ONLY asking about the Apps folder. :)

No, you were right. I was asking about a system wide implementation.

Wouldn't that be the Use as Defaults button in Show View Options?

That's only to set the current folder's view options AS the default. Then you can apply your new "default" later to any folder by holding down Option and the Use as Defaults button will turn into Restore to Defaults.

First part: Yeah. I think that is the answer to the question posed. But, to be clear: I thought doing that changes all folders, new or existing, to the settings present in that window. No?

If not, then, 2nd part: That's a trick I didn't know, if indeed it has a use, which it doesn't if the "first part" is Yes. But, technically, the name is not a "one size fits all". You wouldn't be restoring anything if it hadn't previously been set to the default you created. Nits picked. check
