Convincing my mom to let me Jailbreak.

Hey Guys,
So I'm just starting to develop iPhone apps, and I want to jailbreak my iPhone 4 so that I can test it (when GreenPois0n comes out of course).
How could I convince my mom that it's a good idea?
I should probably mention that I'm moving to Sweden next summer (I'm in US now), so I will need to JB it then anyways.

Give suggestions on how to convince my mom to let me jailbreak it.

She says that if it breaks I won't be able to get it repaired.
That's really the only reason, warranty.

Then you restore it, take it to apple. They fix it, you re-jailbreak. Plus, what the hell does jailbreaking have to do with developing for IOS?
 
You can't put an app on your iOS device unless you get the $99 developers account or jailbreak it.
 
First off if your young enough for your Mother to care what you do to your phone (assuming you bought it with your own money not your parents) you shouldn't have it in the first place.

Anyways, does anyone actually have serious suggestions that don't involve some sort of an insult?

It's simple. Just restore as a new phone if you have to take it to Apple. That's all there is to it.

Then you'll need to join the developers programme and pay the $99. As already mentioned jailbreaks are 100% fully reversible so I don't know what more you want.
 
What if the hardware is broken so that I can't plug it into the computer?
Is there a way I could still restore it?

You want to jailbreak to allow you to develop IOS apps. You aren't coding for the jailbreak scene, so you must want it to go into the app store correct? Well then your going to need to pay the developers fee, download the SDK and register your device. Jailbreaking has nothing to do with it, so why the hassle? Register your device and then you can load whatever app you want at anytime, with the most current firmware and without the hassle of jailbreaking.
 
Jailbreaking should not damage your hardware in any way. None that I'm aware of at least. If you do a DFU restore and then go to Apple for warranty work, they will be none the wiser!

Thats not true at all. If the CPU dies or battery dies thats still hardware broken and not self made. Thats definitely covered by apple.

To the OP, This thread is useless and you should know better as a developer about things like that.

But if your hardware is broken (in a way that its still covered by warranty) because you didnt do it then just take it to apple straight. They can't assess the phone properly and their systems will most likely not show enough information to see if its jailbroken or not. They will just make sure it doesnt have signs of you dropping it and the water sensors didnt go off and most likely will do an instant swap.

And as soon as you get your new phone you are out and thats it, end of story.

I'm also very positive about what im saying, unless you cracked your screen or did something yourself that made the hardware fail they will cover it. Of course I'm talking about hardware failure that wont let you access the phone to restore, if its something small and you have access then as many said above restore and end of story. Also if you do the damage yourself, your warranty is already voided so no difference there.
