So i just recently herd about vpn, and was wondering if it would be possible to set up 2 iPhones to access a vpn server to play games wirelessly against each other. If i'm not mistaken, vpn's act as a tunnel to create a virtual network, so wouldn't it be possible to use this to trick 2 iphones to being on the same network where ever they are?

Thanks!

I don't think so.

Apple probably use some kind of Bonjour service to detect other iOS devices on a local wireless network.

AFAIK VPN connections cant passthrough multicast DNS (a big part of what makes Bonjour work), so the two phones still wont find each other.

That, and, a VPN Gateway which allows 2 or more concurrent connections are quite expensive. Not super expensive, but something to definitely think about if you are just a home user.

Ok, thank you. I guess I have to give up on that idea then. Thanks for your help
