It happened today. Pulled the touch out of the thigh pocket of my pants today, and woke it up with a press of the Home button. Plugged in my headphones, picked a song to play, then went to turn off the screen with the power button. No response.

Tried holding the button down to turn OFF the Touch. No response.

The screen will still time out, but no working power button prevents screen captures and any capability of powering off the screen for good or even for the moment.

Anyone else hear of this? I can't be the only unlucky one.

In any case, something to watch for. The slimmer case changes how that buttons works, and in my case at least that lead to failure.

I think maybe you just got a lemon. Exchange that sucker.

Yep. This will make me 2 for 3 on lemons from Apple. My new 1st gen died the white screen of death. The new 2nd gen is still running perfectly (although a little slower with the latest firmware). This 4th gen is only 2 weels old if that. Doing a restore right now, although I don't think that will fix the broken button. When it's finished I'll set up an exchange with Apple. My support case has already been opened.
