HI

I currently have the old AppleTV that I primarily use as my music server with different speakers around the house connected via AirPort Express. And for storing the movies my children watch now and then. I do this to avoid having a computer turned on all the time with Itunes running.

I now consider if I should move the AppleTV somewhere else (my office) and setup a new AppleTV in my living room and in the childrens room. Is it possible for the new AppleTV to stream movies and music from the Old AppleTV instead for having my computer or Ipad turned on all the time? Basically my old AppleTV would be my music/movie NAS for the different rooms?

Unfortunately, the old :apple:TV isn't capable of this function. Since the old hardware didn't get any firmware updates, it isn't capable of home-sharing, which seems to be the key to this new release. And obviously no video AirPlay, which reqires iOS 4.2.
