System Preference > Sharing crashes (tries 32-bit, without success)

as stated. sharing crashes, everything else works perfect.
Been along since some versions back, might even be from tiger.. now im at 10.6.4.

looking for a smooth way to reinstall just the system preferences.
since new updates wont repair

any advice is of great help.
