Jailbreak 3.1.3 directly using iOS4

This one's a little tricky here..

I have a iPhone 3G with firmware 3.1.3 (05.12.01) and I want to jailbreak it without having to upgrade to iOS4.

I've downloaded all the required files so my question is, "Would the jailbreak work" if I directly try and jailbreak 3.1.3 using ios4's IPSW ??:confused:
 
You can JB an iPhone 3G on 3.1.3 by just visiting jailbreakme.com on mobile safari on the phone... No need for other tools, ipsw's etc.

(and for the record, what you are describing would not work)
