Monopod & Ball Head

I was interested in getting a monopod and ball head to use with my Canon 20D. Was looking at using it with the 100-400 IS lens for shooting my kids Youth Soccer. I'm sure other places as well.

I was looking the Manfrotto 685B monopod. Looks easy to use and my wife would be using it as well. I know I need a head for this as well. Any recommendations?
 
Kirk BH-1 Ballhead is pricey but a nice head to use. Also Manfrotto's 322RC2 Grip Action Ballhead-which may be easier to use taking action photos. My 2c.
