Well I guess it's not 'behavior' but look at this uncropped screen I took. What's with the extra black space on 3 out of the 4 edges? I resized from 1440x900 to 800x...

You don't have extra black space on three out of the four edges. You have missing black space on one out of four edges. My guess is that it has something to do with your screen resolutions.
 
hahaha yesyes I guess you are correct.

but what do you mean about resolutions? I never changed it. It's always been at 1440x900 since installation (2 days ago =P). it's a 15' macbook pro so that's the native resolution.
 
mine is the same way. in fact, i never even noticed that nuance until you pointed it out...
 
strange. I wonder what causes this.

are you guys using custom wallpaper? I know it's far out there but..
