Connection of MB with SOny TV doesn't work

Hello,

I have got a problem with the connection between my Macbook Unibody Late 2008 and my Sony TV. I've bousht an adapter (MiniDispport->HDMI), which is connected to the HDMI wire that's plugged into the TV. The point is that when i go to HDMI 1 into the menu, macbook's screen goes blue for few seconds, but then goes back as it was, and i haven't got any image on the TV.
I live in Paris, and I've tried all mac's forum, but nobody is answering me!
I hope you guys can help me, because this is bothering me.

Can you see a second display in System Preferences > Displays? Click the "search displays" button. Also, have you tried different HDMI ports? Have you ensured that the HDMI cable is working with another device?
