NEW SMS Tones in the 4.2 Beta 3

Let's all hope this sticks for the 4.2 release in a month.
 
Now if only you could set different tones for different people and services.

Hmm... Might be interesting. I never found any of the original sounds to be better than the tritone.

I want something that can wake me out of a dead sleep.

While I do like the tritone, when I'm expecting an important text message it would be nice to have something more "abrupt and annoying." Just seems the options now aren't something that can do that for me.

I'm assuming you have alarm for your ringtone?
 
OMG, I'm going to be in a firing mode if one of my employees has an iPhone not on vibrate and it lets out one of those annoying ring tones.
 
SMS tones? I think that's too much for OS to handle. I bet it will be only for iPhone 5.
 
wow are they serious with those tones? there all very bad. They can make excellent phones with a great OS but just can't get some simple things like sms tones right.

just open it up to users to make/DL/Buy/set their own

they're way to long. it'll be irritating to hear these over and over again while having a text conversation.
i just want user customizable tones, just like ring tones. wtf is the problem with that?
 
Look, ALL I want to be able to do is to have my SMS tone for certain people be the same as the ringtone I have for those same people (only shorter) just like I had on my POS cell phone circa 1997.
Now why that is SUCH a strain on the imagination of Steve Jobs is beyond me...:mad:
And, look, if YOU don't want to do that, I'm OK with it. I won't FORCE you to to adopt my approach. Just don't force ME to have to hear the same #$%&^ tone when I'm out in public and watch 15 people all reach for their iPhone at the same time because it's impossible to tell whose *&^&*#@ phone it is...:mad:

LOL i have to agree with you

some jagoff fanatic will dis you, and defend apple in some way - but man you are right...
 
I appreciate having new options, but those are awful. They're all way, way too long, and most are also pretty annoying.
 
I think they're fun... for a ringtone. No way would I ever use one for a text or email alert. Maybe an alarm, but that's about it.
