Lately my Mac Pro will sometimes show a message saying "You need to restart your computer buy holding the power button" when I try to shut it down or to restart it. What could that be? The kernel panic report is the following:

My guess: com.Logitech.Control Center.HID Driver 3.3.0

See what Google finds.

Have you done the NTFS write hack?

I can tell it has something to do with NTFS:
panic(cpu 0 caller 0xffffff7f80dc726c): "ntfs_buf_iodone(): ni != vol->mft_ni\n"@/SourceCache/ntfs/ntfs-65.2/kext/ntfs_vnops.c:242

Apple disabled it for a good reason! It can be quite buggy!

Logitech drivers are the bugiest s*it ever unistall and your compi should be fine

Actually not a hack, I had ntfs3g but I uninstalled it some time ago. Regarding logitech it never gave me problems. I'm using 64bit kernel, that could have something to do with it. The strange thing is that it happens (not always) only when I try to shut down or restart the system.

You're right. I should read more carefully. Thanks for pointing out the real issue.

I am having the same problem. I do not have any 3rd party NTFS software on the system.

When I try to copy large files from the HD to the MAC I get the "you need to restart your computer" dialog. This happens with all of my NTFS formatted drives.

They work just fine with Linux and Windows.
