I figured out a way to have android like notifications on iPhone using lockinfo and biteSMS (you can use iReal or even the standard messaging app)
the settings you want on in lockinfo are:
lockscreen:
lockscreen enabled
reset visibility off
block popups on
quick dismiss on
homescreen:
homescreen disabled
infoshade:
activation can be any you want, but to make it like android, have it swipe down from the status bar
under plugins-sms:
set your tap to reply to biteSMS or iReal if you are using them, otherwise dont bother. If you're using the status bar icon from one of those apps, turn off statusbar icon, otherwise leave it on
also turn off mark as read
if you are using bitesms, turn off popups for the homescreen (and lockscreen if youd like)
now, when you get a text, the phone vibrates/makes noise, and a little icon appears in the statusbar. swiping down on the status bar brings up a "notification tray" that you can view the text in, quick reply, etc...
its a lot like android, and is very nice!
