This has been happening a lot in the past week or two. No new electronics or the sort. I live in a house(so no neighbor interference) and am about 15 feet away from my router which is a Netgear WPN824v2.

It slows down the internet down to the point where nothing loads whatsoever, until the ping goes back to normal. The routers firmware is all up to date. This has only been happening recently (past month) with no router changes in over two years. I have the late 09 mbp.

macs hate netgear routers; check to see if theres a firmware update for your router...

That'll probably be why me and my wife have been having so much trouble since we got Sky internet and it came with a netgear router then...
