Ahhhh, I believe we are looking at chinese "clones"... check out this exchange between the seller and a potential buyre (who didn't buy)

Question: does the screen measure 9.7 inches diagonally like the real one?
Response: yes

Question Does it have the apple on it?
Respnse: yes it is apple, made in china apple

Question: Does the 3G work all the time?
Respnse: yes

I have bought similar chinese duplication/clone things for my mac stuff, cradle for iPhone, UK adapter for my power brick etc. Always made with lower quality materials.... not sure this is worth it.

New seller and located in China?!?

In for 6.

He's pushy and describes the product as 'counter genuine' when asked if it's real too!

Chinese sellers play fast and loose with things like hardware specifications and authenticity. As long as it looks more or less like what you think you're buying they're satisfied. 256mb of RAM, 128MB of ram...what's the difference? iPad, ePad...

It's best just to avoid anything being sold directly from Asia.

If the price is too good to be true, it probably is. I have to deal with scam artists every single day (I work for an online classifieds site) and it's amazing what people will fall for because the price is incredible.

I'd say beware.

What on earth does that mean?

I don't think "desperate" is quite the right word. So, don't kill me here... it's more of a value question to me. I can certainly afford to get myself one, but I have the hardest time reconciling what I would do with it. So yes, in some sense your analysis is correct, I love my Mac, love my iPhone, would love and iPad... but, $600 is still $600. Now, $150... that I can reconcile.

My response to that is, if you think the iPad is only worth $150, then buy the chinese knockoff and I'm sure you'll get your $150 dollars worth. However, if you want to real deal, then spend the $600 and get the value associated with it when it is real. Apps, iBooks, battery life, iOS, etc. in my opinion all worth it and way worth the $699 I paid for my 64GB Wifi iPad.

Can you reconcile paying $150 and ending up with nothing? Cause that's what's gonna happen.

You can always pay thru PayPal and claim if they send you junk, right?

Yep; 'significantly not as described' is paypal's term.

I'd suggest asking of it works with the iTunes app store, rather than getting descriptions of screen sizes and spelling of the name, if you're really after confirmation...

That's not likely to be the outcome; paypal claims for not receiving an item are the most straightforward, and you're pretty much guaranteed a refund.

Of course, I was not saying the value proposition isn't there for other people. Honestly, the pricing really does seem to be fair enough, even more so with the apple store refurbs. And, I really have no idea what $$ amount would push me over the edge.... but I can say it is somewhere between $150 and $600.... who knows, maybe I'll just break down and get one.

What I do know is, I am not up for a cheap knock-off copy.

hi friend you are not shure if is counter genuine?? please reply me back so we may make authentic deal. You will be happiness satisfaction.

You know what they say looks too good to be true etc etc...

Although maybe he stole them off the back of a truck or something hahah
