I am using a standard dell E6410 work issued machine.

He logged in as admin and tried it all to connect to my phone....

But the damn wifi wont work... (MyWi 3 day trial version)

We saw SSID, we connected, but no dice.

Any ideas?

Same thing for me with mywi 4.8.3. My E6400 can see it and tries to connect, but won't. My laptops at home connect fine.... and I am the IT dork. :D

It's not unusual for corporate laptops to be set up to not allow connections to ad hoc networks (what MyWi creates) for security reasons.

Open the Properties page for your wireless connection in Control Panel, click on the Wireless Networks tab, click on Advanced in the lower right. This will show 3 radio buttons which describe the kind of wireless networks you can connect to. I can select ad hoc, but GPOs prevent this change from being saved.

NOTE: This is on a WindowsXP laptop.

you do realize that many of us here are IT "dorks". Calling us names will not get us dorks to help you

Also, OP, many of us here are non-IT dorks. Insulting us by lumping us in with the IT crowd, will not get us non-IT dorks to help you.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

I'm sorry, I was too distracted by the dork statement and my disabling of your email account that I didn't hear the question. Repeat please?

Maybe he knows exactly how to get it working, but he won't because you refer to him as your IT dork.

It is so unbelievable that three people can overreact to much to someone trolling them on the internet.
