It is a separate app that can replace the default messages app. Once you set Bite as your default app you can hide the default SMS app in SBSettings and off you go.
Just try it. It's a fully functioning free trial and you never have to pay if you don't mind the ads. I paid for it though as it's worth every penny.

how do i replace the icon .. but the default icon is horrible .. how do i get that icon i see people using for it .. where its like the default sms icon but has a bite out of it ???

You can find replacement icons around and SSH it on to your phone or use one of th many WinterBoard themes that will replace it.
Easier than SSHing into the phone and replacing the icon...you can search on Cydia for the tweak "biteSMS to RETINA SMS icon". That is, if you don't mind using Winterboard. Just enable it in Winterboard, respring, and your biteSMS icon will look just like the stock SMS icon.
