The title says it all really. I have a 500Gb Apple TV, so I'm no stranger to messing around with Hard drives, and doing a bit of terminal and disk utility work.

So, what's needed to change a hard drive in Time Capsule?? Is it just a case of hot swapping them or is a bit of terminal work required? I've seen a Time Capsule on Apples refurb site in the UK that's 1TB for £169 (which I didn't think was too bad). My plan is to buy it and throw a 2TB drive into it :)

I've done it twice now, and it's really fairly easy if you follow an online guide. The only preparation I did was to format the hard drive as HFS+ ahead of time of the install, then just be sure to use AirPort Utility to erase the disk once it's inside the TC to set up the necessary partitions, etc. (Not sure if this is required, but it doesn't hurt since it's a quick procedure.) You can even partition the hard drive before installing it and have separate partitions for different computers backing up.
