I personally am not a fan of Seagate, and I cannot tell you why... I have never purposely installed one in a machine of mine. I think my "bad taste" goes way back to early in my career at work when we had problems with them.

So to be fair, it is most likely a pure cost question, everything else being equal, on whether you go West Dig, Seagate, Samsung or Toshiba...

Have you ever heard of pricewatch? http://www.pricewatch.com You will find ALL prices on ALL drive types, sizes, manufacturers etc. Just make sure you get a 2.5" SATA laptop drive and you'll be good.

I have never purchased from them, however I wouldn't be afraid of them either. They are in California, so positive check mark there. They have a posted phone number, another check mark. They have a "brick and mortar" store - a definite real deal vendor IMHO

You are looking at $35... so, it's probably a safe bet to buy it there. I would if I needed another drive.

Excellent, thank you. Placed my order. Thank you everyone for your help.

Actually, one more question. How should I go about transferring everything over to my new HD and keeping the same settings etc, basically I want my computer to be exactly the same as it was with my old HD with the fewest possible steps... I know I need to reinstall OSX on the new HD, but where do I go from there?

Reinstall OSX on new hard drive. Log in as an administrator using a different user account than you used on the old hard drive. (you can delete it later). Connect old hard drive with a USB enclosure or cable. use the migrate settings thing to copy all your old programs and settings. It's much easier than on windows.

Awesome, thanks for the help. Can anyone link me to a good/cheap USB cable on Amazon or something? I'm not sure which one I need

Anyone know if the enclosure I posted in the first post is compatible? Thank you
