i was eagerly waiting the 11.6'' Air but now i think it's a big joke!

the problem is it's not too small.

the real problem is it's too wide AND small at the same time,crappy specs too.i'm so disappointed i think i'm gonna get the 13'' one instead.

P.S. and what's up with the absence of the SD card slot? does Apple want the Air to be superior in anything? LOL
 
Do you want a narrower laptop with a shrunken keyboard? The 11.6" MBA is essentially a CULV, which is an underpowered laptop but more powerful than a netbook. I am glad that Apple used a 16:9 screen to accommodate a full sized keyboard.

What did you expect? A core i7 and 8GB RAM?
 
In reality, Apple wants you to want to upgrade. They want you to see the value in the upgrade. Someone on these forums said that the 11.6" MBA will probably sell 4X as many as the 13.3" MBA. I disagree to an extent. I think would be MB buyers might see the advantage of the smaller 11.6" MBA. I think would be MBA buyers will see the advantages of the 13" MBA at the higher price points fully loaded.
 
It's very simple:

Many people don't need much, only something small for text editing, browsing and email/im. For those people the 11.6" is perfect. LED screen, full-size keyboard, good GPU.

Other people want more, so they won't be buying the 11.6" because you simply can't fit too much in such a small machine.

End of story.
 
dude i don't want more!

i'm a very light user that's why i was looking forward to the 11.6'' for work.but now i have seen the pix and the video it looks very wide.

i have no problem with it being small I WANT IT TO BE SMALL it's 11.6'' after all but the 16:9 on a small screen makes it look ugly.

Too bad you find it ugly. I'd suggest to view it IRL first. From what I've seen from the video's (e.g. http://www.engadget.com/2010/10/20/macbook-air-13-inch-first-hands-on/) it looks awesome.

But you could've known there wouldn't be anything other than 16:9. Apple has been saying for years they don't like to compromise on usability. A cramped up keyboard is -never- going to happen.

Have you seen it in person? With that resolution I think you'll have no problems even putting two Safari windows side by side. 16:9 is unfortunately the trend these days as manufacturers are phasing out 16:10 ratios but on the flip side it does make for a smaller if not narrower footprint.

I am glad for the 16:9 ratio and the 11.6 inch size. I'm sure there is a market for those that do not need much. We may want more processor or ram or storage but as a first version of a small 11.6inch footprint, I'm sure improvements will come.

The graet thing is that Apple offered a option to those like Scottsdale and others that rather have more the screen space and improvements from the original to v3.

I think most of us MBA users are satisfied with the choices and upgradability's. The only group that might be upset is those asking for 15inchers...then again, we did get better resolution, something not talked much in the rumors!!

The 13" has enough room for a full-sized keyboard.

Look, I don't know why you're so upset. If you want a small screen and a cramped up keyboard on which you can't type for more than 30 minutes because then your hands and fingers start to hurt... buy one of the 9.357 netbooks that offer you all this goodness.
 
It has to be wide to support the full-sized keyboard. Since Jobs made such a big deal about a full-sized keyboard not cramping the Mac style in the past, he couldn't backtrack there. In all honesty, I would prefer a full-sized keyboard to a smaller cramped keyboard too... it does look wide, but it has to be.

So you were 'eagerly awaiting' the 11.6" Air but the current one is too wide? How wide did you think it was going to be? And it's too small at the same time? You know it's a Mac Book Air, right?

Instead of buying one product which doesn't suit you, you're buying another product from the same company which does? That's fantastic.
 
He probably meant he had preferred a 12.something" screen, like the 11.6" but slightly more height to make it 16:10.

If he preferred something like a 12.x" screen then he can go get one as of today, unless 13.3" is too far on the other side of the size sweet spot :rolleyes: and which also makes me wonder why he was eagerly awaiting the 11.6" MBA to begin with.

Edit: They clearly didn't do their homework and neither did I, the 11.6 IS 16:9, but from the tech specs page of the 13":

Supported resolutions: 1440 by 900 (native), 1280 by 800, 1152 by 720, 1024 by 640, and 800 by 500 pixels at 16:10 aspect ratio

No mention of a 16:9 where on the 11.6" model there is.

Not the first time Edgadget has screwed something up. I read the same thing and then misread the specs on the apple website and thought I was going crazy when the two screens looked like they were different ratios in the pictures.
 
Wow that didn't take long for the first crybaby thread to appear.

Obviously you know a way to engineer a better machine that is 11.6 and can cram a lot more technology into that small of space.
 
I am merely going to wait for some sites to performance test the various configurations, but I am leaning towards the base model with 4gb memory. Size is what I am after, the low weight is merely a bonus to me.

That I can get an eleven inch laptop with OS X and four gigs of memory is great. I need an "outdoors" computer, something that I can just carry. Bonus is that it will hide in the seat back storage of my car, let alone I can take it with my work laptop.
 
What is the point of this thread...
Macbook Air 11.6 inch is obviously to target netbook customers who want physical keyboards. Do any netbooks run core i7 with 8GB ram that can max out crysis? This thread is so pointless.
