Sony - VAIO Laptop / Intel® Core™ i3 Processor / 14" Display / 4GB Memory / 500GB Hard Drive - Violet

Model: VPCEA36FM/V

My previous laptop is where the bulk of my itunes is at, when I get the new laptop and synch my 3Gs and 5th Nano how can I make sure nothing gets erased from them?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated. :)

Well to keep any music you bought from iTunes all you have to do is plug your iPhone & iPod into your new computer, get in iTunes and go to File-->Transfer Files. That will transfer all your purchased music.

Now for files that you did not buy from iTunes, I suggest you back up to an external hard drive if you have one or DVD-R's (way less convenient.)

If you happen to have Carbonite or some sort of backup program then make sure you back up where you keep your music files/video files/pictures and then just download Carbonite on your new PC and restore the files, I've done it several times when I reinstall Windows or get a new PC.

Anymore questions just ask bro. Hope I helped. Later.

Thanks I used Mozy to backup my files so I should be good. :)

Why do we need to know you are buying a Windows computer and why do we need to know the specs. Don't think you're cool on MacRumors bragging about that junk.

Why does anyone need to know your iDevices and computer specs which are attached as your "signature" to all of your posts?

Ohhh you Mac Fanboys need to chill out. He's excited he got a new computer who cares that he listed his computer and specs??? Is that some inconvenience to you? Grow up. This Apple vs. Microsoft s*it needs to stop. I prefer Windows but I respect people who use Apple/Macs.

Anyway, Candyman...just make sure you back everything up, I know it does it automatically but before you go and delete stuff make sure your stuff is backed up for sure in Mozy. Other than that, you should be good!

Another way to rephrase this is
"I want to sync my current 3GS and Nano to a different computer but I don't want them to be erased. How do I do that?"

When you are creating a signature it tells you to do the following steps.
-
Signature rules:
Maximum 200 characters and 4 lines.
No blank lines or lines of punctuation characters!
May not be distracting, oversized, or in conflict with any forum rules.
Please use continuous text rather than many short lines.
For example, use this:
24" Aluminum iMac, 2.8 GHz, 4 GB RAM, 750 GB HD ; 4 GB iPod nano
instead of this:
24" Aluminum iMac
2.8 GHz
4 GB RAM
750 GB HD
-
Plus everybody does it, so why not?

this is the same stupid crap as the guy asking about Go phones

these are not AT&T forums
these are not Sony laptop forums

should I come in here and ask car questions ?

If you car question was along the lines of "How do I get my iPod to play with my new car?" and you didnt know how.

So you attach your computer.specs/iToys to EVERY post you make, yet you feel you need to call out someone who mentioned the specs of their new computer in one post.

He has the right to post his computer specs "So why not?"

That's a dumb question.. ask your car dealership :p
No but seriously, that is a stupid question.

He wasn't asking anything about his Sony laptop, he listed the model and specs. He asked how to get his files on his new computer so that is a legit question he asked.

People need to calm down on these forums. These forums have really gone downhill over the years because people like you guys b*tch about everything and anything you can. Just chill out and help someone out.

My point is, for a question like this, doesn't have to do at all about his computer specs. Does the amount of space in a Hard Drive need to be mentioned at all? Or him telling us his processor.

Maybe if this guy was trying to find out some specs for a video game, then yes, but not for syncing an ipod.

Did he need to? No
Can he? Yes
Did he? Yes

Do you need to post your iToy/Computer specs in each of your posts via your sig? No
Can you? Yes
Do you? Yes

I don't help out show-offs. Would you help me if I said "I got a brand new iPhone 4 32 gb with screen protectors on the back and front with a incase slider case and an external charger. How can I sync this phone?"

I'm pretty sure your response would be "wtf is wrong with you"

I'm the same way, but flipped. I use a Mac but I have nothing against people who use PCs. :)

Telling us the color of his computer was relevant to his question.

CALM DOWN DUDE. You like to brag about your stuff, I like to brag about my stuff, and the OP wanted to brag. We're all braggarts.

He COPIED AND PASTED the information from the Sony website. He didn't intentionally type it all out.

Then don't help out. You didn't help out in this thread and it doesn't seem like you will. Do you a magic button to transfer his entire iTunes library? Special information? No? Then we don't care whether or not you want to help.

You're right, now I'm thinking, "WTF is wrong with you?"

@OP Follow these instructions. I just did that to transfer my library from my old PC to my new laptop :)

Seriously!!!! or how much people sold their old iDevices for!!! Very LAME!!!!!!
